Welcome to the Leadership Academy of the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute.
Let’s begin with a little background about the Institute.
The National Child Welfare Workforce Institute is a collaborative partnership of the federal Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Bureau, the National Indian Child Welfare Association, and the following Universities:
Fordham University
Michigan State University
University of Iowa
University of Denver
State University of New York at Albany
University of Michigan
Portland State University
University of Southern Maine
The purpose of the Institute is to improve outcomes for children and families by building leadership capacity throughout the child welfare system.
To do this, the Institute will focus on the following activities over the next five years:
o Providing leadership training for middle managers and supervisors
o Sponsoring BSW and MSW traineeships at several Universities, and
o Facilitating national peer networks and other online learning communities for supervisors and middle managers

Right now I bet you’re asking: “how does all of this relate to me?” The answer is simple: The Institute will soon be offering a free Leadership Training Academy to any interested supervisor, in any location, nationwide.
